    Greetings Neighbors!

There are some exciting things happening in our neighborhood that we want you to know about!

First, you may have heard about the Resident Survey: A Park for Hollywood Park! Councilmember Caity Maple is working on a plan to bring a new community park to the neighborhood, and we need your input.

To fund the park’s ongoing development and maintenance, we’re exploring the creation of a Community Facilities District (CFD) — a voter-approved funding mechanism where neighbors pay a small monthly to support local improvements. In this case, the CFD would ensure the park stays clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout its existence.

Because a CFD requires strong neighborhood support, we’re conducting this short survey to hear from you. Your feedback will help shape the project and determine whether we move forward. Please take five minutes to complete the survey; you can access it here, or by going to the QR code on the flyer below (also attached to this email).

National Night Out is on August 5th this year. The NNO website describes the evening as “an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.”

While this is not an HPNA-sponsored event, if you are planning on hosting a NNO gathering at your home and would like to share that information, please reply to this email and HPNA will add your address to a map that will be posted on social media and also shared with Sacramento Police Dept. (South Command) so that officers *may* visit.

Join Us for a District 5 Clean-Up on August 9!

We would like to invite you to our next community clean-up. Join Councilmember Caity Maple and neighbors to pick up trash and spruce up the 24th Street Bypass! We will be providing donuts, coffee, cleaning supplies, and any training necessary. Let’s repeat that: FREE DONUTS AND COFFEE! All while doing great work for our neighborhood. It’s really a win-win!

Plan on meeting at Two Rivers Cider (4311 Attawa Avenue) at 10 a.m.; we will be cleaning and communing until noon. You can go home with a full heart and a clean street!

RSVP here: https://sacd5.com/24thStreet or by clicking the QR code on the flyer below (also attached to this email).

Bring a friend and wear comfortable clothes. We’ll see you there!

The HPNA is pleased to be co-sponsoring the annual ice cream social and movie night the evening of Friday, September 5 at St. Robert School!  This annual community event is such a nice way for our community to celebrate the end of summer, and come together. Councilmember Maple’s office will be posting a survey online to see what movie we want to watch, so be sure to keep your eyes open!

Your HPNA Board will be meeting on Thursday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Fountainhead Brewing (4621 24th Street). If you would like to join us, or if you have anything that you would like the Board to know about or discuss, please email hpna95822@gmail.com to submit your suggestions. We hope to see you there!

Finally, the HPNA can only do good things for our community with neighbor support, both through service and financial. We want to thank the incredible volunteers that helped create wonderful events in June and July! If you’d like to help the HPNA bring good things to your neighbors, either once or on-going, simply reply to this email! If you’d like to become a dues-paying member of the HPNA ($20 for a 12-month membership), please take five minutes to do so. Thank you!

May you continue to care for yourself and for others, and enjoy your remaining weeks of summer, neighbors! (First day of school for SCUSD schools is August 18. First day of school for St. Robert School is August 13.) We all look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood!
