Greetings Neighbors!
Welcome to Fall! We all hope that you’ve had a lovely end to your summer—perhaps some of you were able to join us for the summer movie night last Friday—and you’re getting into the regular rhythm of life that this time of year brings.
Your HPNA Board wants to share some of that time with you at our upcoming events and opportunities; read on to learn more!
Community Forum on Homelessness on September 17
First, we are hosting a Community Forum on Homelessness, on Wednesday, September 17 at Hollywood Park Elementary. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; forum is from 7-8:30 p.m. Panelists include representatives from City of Sacramento Department of Community Response; Sacramento County Department of Homeless Services and Housing; Sacramento Steps Forward; and SCUSD Homeless Student Services (invited).
Space is somewhat limited, so please click on this link to RSVP and to submit any questions that you may have for the panelists.
Hollywood Park Mega Yard Sale on October 4
It’s time to put words into action: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!” The annual Hollywood Park Mega Yard Sale is the first Saturday in October (10/4). Take advantage of this opportunity to have folks come from all around to meet your neighbors and get rid of some stuff! Although this isn’t an officially-sponsored HPNA event, if you would like your garage sale on a map, please email 920sac@gmail.com no later than 10/2 with the words GARAGE SALE in the subject line. HPNA will post the map on our social media pages as well as on our website.

OktoberFest on October 4
Also on October 4 is HPNA’s first annual OktoberFest from 12-4 at Fountainhead Brewing (4621 24th Street). After working your garage sale (or walking to other sales!), come relax and grab a pint of Hollywood Park’s very own brewery! Fountainhead is generously donating $1 per pint to HPNA (thank you, Fountainhead!), so come on over to enjoy the afternoon in one of the gems of our neighborhood.

Join the HPNA Board of Directors!
If you would like to be part of making community events and advocacy happen for our neighborhood, consider joining the HPNA Board! We are a fun group of passionate neighbors from the Hollywood Park and Carleton Tract neighborhoods who work together to find solutions and say YES to making things happen! If you would like your name on the ballot, you must submit a 100-150 Candidate Statement to hpna95822@gmail.com no later than October 17, 2025. Statements will be published in the next Hollywood Herald Newsletter. Elections will be held in person at the December Community Meeting; candidates must be dues-paying members of HPNA, and must attend the December meeting in person to introduce yourself to attendees before the vote.
Any questions about the commitment? Contact any Board member to chat!
Finally, the Resident Survey: A Park for Hollywood Park is still open! Councilmember Caity Maple is working on a plan to bring a new community park to the neighborhood, and we need your input.
To fund the park’s ongoing development and maintenance, we’re exploring the creation of a Community Facilities District (CFD) — a voter-approved funding mechanism where neighbors pay a small monthly to support local improvements. In this case, the CFD would ensure the park stays clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout its existence.
Because a CFD requires strong neighborhood support, we’re conducting this short survey to hear from you. Your feedback will help shape the project and determine whether we move forward. If you haven’t yet already completed the survey, please take five minutes to complete the survey; you can access it here, or by going to the QR code on the flyer below (also attached to this email).

Your HPNA Board will be meeting on Thursday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Belle Cooledge Library (5600 S. Land Park Drive); we will also be streaming this meeting. If you would like to join us, or if you have anything that you would like the Board to know about or discuss, please email hpna95822@gmail.com to submit your suggestions. We hope to see you there!
Finally, the HPNA can only do good things for our community with neighbor support, both through service and financial. We want to thank the incredible volunteers that have donated their talent and time to all of the events that we’ve enjoyed this year! If you’d like to help the HPNA bring good things to your neighbors, either once or on-going, simply reply to this email! If you’d like to become a dues-paying member of the HPNA ($20 for a 12-month membership), please take five minutes to do so by clicking this link or using the QR code below. Thank you!

We look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood!
